# Map

The **Map** block shows an interactive map on your page. You can add one or more **pins** (locations) so visitors can see addresses or places at a glance.

***

## What you can do

* Choose the **map style** (e.g. OpenStreetMap default, Light, Dark, Colorful).
* Set **zoom level** and **height** (minimum and maximum) so the map fits your layout.
* Add **pins** with address, optional label, and description.
* Optionally group pins and set a **default pin color** (Primary, Secondary, Custom, etc.).
* Use **sharp corners** for the map area if your design uses square corners.

***

## Adding locations (pins)

The Map block contains **Map pin** or **Map pins** blocks:

* **Map pin** — A single location. You enter address (or latitude/longitude), optional **Pin label**, and optional **Description**. You can set the **pin color** (Primary, Secondary, Tertiary, Black, White, Red, Green, or Custom). For Custom, enter a valid CSS color (e.g. `#ff0000` or `red`).
* **Map pins** — A group of pins. Add multiple **Map pin** blocks inside it. You can set a **Map pins label** and a **default color** for all pins in the group; individual pins can still override with their own color.

## Main options (Style)

| Option             | Description                                                          |
| ------------------ | -------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Map tile layer** | Style of the map: OpenStreetMap (Default), Light, Dark, or Colorful. |
| **Zoom** | Initial zoom level of the map. |
| **Min height** | Minimum height of the map area (e.g. in pixels). |
| **Max height** | Maximum height of the map area. |
| **Sharp corners** | When on, the map container uses sharp (non-rounded) corners. |

## Tips

* To link to this map from a button or menu, place the map inside a **Container** and set the Container's **id** (for example `contact-map`). Then link to `#contact-map`. The map block itself has no id field.
* Pin **address** is used for both display and geocoding; latitude/longitude can override if needed.
* Pin colors can follow your theme (Primary, Secondary) or be customized per pin or per group.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://storypress.gitbook.io/storypress-docs/content-blocks/map.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
