# Footer

Your theme’s **Footer** block defines the **site-wide footer**—the strip at the bottom of every page. Set it once in the theme; it appears on all pages.

***

## How it works

1. In the theme, add or open the **Footer** block.
2. Inside it, add the content you want: menus (e.g. Legal, Support), **Socials** (icons and links), rich text (copyright, tagline), and any other blocks the footer allows.
3. Footer background and text color come from the theme [Colors](/storypress-docs/theme-and-setup/colors.md) block (footer background, footer text).

***

## What you can put in the footer

* **Menus** — Links to key pages (Privacy, Terms, Contact, Sitemap).
* **Socials** — Social icon links (e.g. Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram).
* **Text** — Copyright line, company name, short tagline.
* [**Logos**](/storypress-docs/content-blocks/logos.md) — Optional small logo or partner logos.

Exact options depend on your theme’s footer component; the idea is the same: one footer definition, reused everywhere.

***

## Tips

* Keep the footer simple so it doesn’t compete with main content.
* Use a **menu** for legal and utility links so you can update them in one place.
* Match footer background and text to your nav for a consistent frame around the site.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://storypress.gitbook.io/storypress-docs/theme-and-setup/footer.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
